About
Based in Denver, fig+honey began as a passion project in 2015 while making small-batch chutney and cheese, trying to save enough money to get me to southern India to complete a graduate program in Social Work.
When I returned, I continued my career as a social worker while still making cheese and chutneys upon request, and at times adding them to more complete charcuterie boards as gifts. Although working full time, I never let go of the idea of ultimately turning my passion for food and fellowship into a successful business, when the time and opportunity were right. In March 2020, the beginning of the stay-at-home order, I received a request from a family member, asking me if I could make a charcuterie board as I’ve done before, but in a way that would limit contact. Considerations that didn’t exist prior to COVID-19. The solution was to place everything in a disposable box. Little did I know that adjusting from a basket to a box would appeal to so many as a meaningful way to connect with others through food, despite the inability to share the same physical space.
After posting that first grazing box on social media, the response was incredible. It became clear that the time and opportunity to pursue my true passion is now. My aim with fig+honey from its initial inception is to make life easy, bring people together, build connection, community and shared experience through food. The charcuterie boxes, although borne out of the restrictions of the pandemic accomplish these goals. Not only from the moment the box is opened, but long after the box has been devoured.
My Eastern European and Mexican roots are incorporated into each charcuterie board and are full of fresh, handmade and market-sourced products.
Smacznego! Bon Appetit! Buen provecho!
